Planning for exams is essential
Children start to get scared of exams from February itself. As soon as the exams are coming, tension starts in their minds. Exams are always stressful for both students and parents. Exams are a stressful time not only for children but also for the entire family. When emotions are out of balance, family members tend to show anger towards their children. This increases the stress in children. If you overcome the stress, it is very easy to succeed in exams.
When it comes to exams, students’ thoughts run like horses. Will I be able to get good marks… Will I be able to fulfill the expectations placed on me by my parents… Will I be able to write correct answers… What will happen if I don’t get the expected marks? What will be the situation with my relatives, friends, teachers and classmates at school… Such worries arise in their minds. Put aside such stress and worries and write the exam, success will come to your feet. Reducing the fear of exams is in the hands of the students.
Goal: Setting a goal before preparing for exams will make the desire to study stronger. Starting the preparation by thinking in advance how many chapters I will complete in this subject will increase the interest in studying. The determination to complete the chapters in that subject will increase. If we keep reminding ourselves of the goal from time to time, we will be able to complete the desired target.
Planning: Students should definitely make a plan. What should be studied on which day? How much should be studied should be specified. Some people study well from the beginning of the academic year, while others start studying when the exams start. This starts the tension. So if you have a plan in advance, you can be cheerful during the exam time. You should plan which subject to study on which day and which chapters to complete and study. The planning should be written on a paper and pasted on the wall in the study room where we can see it.
Time Management: We should make the most of the 24 hours we have in a day. Whatever needs to be completed at that time, we should complete it at that time. Otherwise, staying up all night studying will not be beneficial. Our brain is most active between 4.30 and 6 am.
Self-confidence: In exams, questions will only come from what is in your syllabus. If you go fearing what questions will come, you will not remember everything you have studied. You should go with confidence when going for the exam.
Exam Fear: Fear is not born to anyone. We should remember that we have created the situations ourselves and made it a habit to be afraid. Therefore, we should be mentally strong. While contemplating the syllabus, if there are any old question papers, we should often write down answers to them. This will definitely give you the feeling of ‘I am ready whenever the exam comes’. Many people study but because they are not used to writing, they find it difficult to write fast in exams. Some others get depressed by comparing themselves with others who study well. Instead of getting depressed, they should remember that “not everyone is born a genius” and read.
You should encourage yourself and not be jealous: Everyone in the world has unique skills. We should always encourage ourselves with our own skills. When we observe others, we should not be jealous and give appropriate instructions to our mind. We should be able to recognize the uniqueness in us. When we observe others, we should improve our abilities and strengthen our self-confidence by thinking that we are equal to ourselves.
Healthy sleep: Students who study too much the night before the exam not only damage their health but also get stressed. Allocate 6 hours of sleep.
Unnecessary fears should be let go: Students get stressed when they are not able to reach the exam center even when the exam starts. Reaching 45 minutes before the exam time will help you relax. As soon as you enter the exam hall, you may feel stressed and forget everything you have studied. Don’t let unnecessary fears get to you.
